Dr. Joseph McAleer

Dr. McAlear

Keynote Speaker

"Fairfield County Catholic as an Organ of Evangelization."

Dr. McAleer joined the Diocese of Bridgeport in 1998 as Editor of Fairfield County Catholic and Director of Communications.  Born in Norwalk, he was raised and has lived in Stamford for the past 30 years.  Dr. McAleer is a Member and Trustee of Saint John the Evangelist Parish, Stamford.

Dr. McAleer is the author of two books:

Popular Reading and Publishing in Britain (1993)

Winner of the Book of the Year Award

Passion's Fortune: The Story of Mills & Boon (1999)

This is a well-written and extraordinarily well-researched book about the history of the popular British publishing house of Mills & Boon (Harlequin romances, etc.).

"Passion's Fortune" is entertaining, informative, and eye-opening, as it sheds glowing light on a niche (albeit large) business within publishing. You will not view "cheap, summertime romance novels" the same after reading this book!
