Volunteerism informed by Christian concern is the hallmark of the
Knights of Columbus and results in outstanding contributions of time and talent to the
Catholic Church, our communities, families, young people and brother Knights.
Fraternal and charitable programs arise at the
grassroots level to meet the needs of local parishes and communities ... here are
highlights of just a few of the programs that Pavia Council runs to strengthen our faith
and support the Catholic Church. Follow the links for more detailed information.
Vocations Poster Contest
The Vocations Poster Contest is conducted annually to foster religious vocations among
our youth. It is open to students of St. Mary Religious Education Program and St. Mary
School. Judging is traditionally held in early February with an exhibit of all
entries in the parish hall several weeks later.
Communion Breakfast
An annual event where parishioners, friends and guests gather in fellowship.
Each year's breakfast honors a member of our community and features a notable keynote
presentation.
Men's Retreat
Pavia Council sponsors an annuals Mens Retreat at Holy Family Passionist Retreat
Center in West Hartford. All men are welcome to join others from St. Marys and
parishes throughout the state. The retreat is usually held in early March.
Family of the Month
Each month, a Knights of Columbus family is chosen to serve as an example of Christian
Family Life. Family members demonstrate true Christian values and inspire others of
St. Marys Parish, the Bethel Community and Pavia Council 48 through acts of
unselfish giving of time and personal effort.
Memorial to the Unborn Dedication
On Sunday, April 26, 1998, The Most Reverend Edward M. Egan dedicated a memorial to the
unborn at St. Mary Church. The memorial was donated by Pavia council to commemorate
the 40th anniversary of Msgr. Karl's ordination.
